Dr. Gary Potter is a professor in the EKU School of Criminal Justice. His primary areas of research are transnational organized crime, drugs and drug policy, the social construction of crime and criminal justice.
Why did you choose this field?
I ended up in criminal justice because of my initial research focus on organized crime. Almost all of my early work focused on organized crime.
What are the highlights of teaching?
The best part of teaching is the chance to expose people to new ideas and new ways of looking at the world around them.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I'm a professor, I have no spare time. But when I make some I have been known to handicap and bet on horse races, play a little poker and follow my other main intellectual interest which is cinema.
