Consider the following statement:

Statement: The police officer, in one split second, without the benefit of law school or judicial roles or legal appeals, acting as judge, jury and executioner may accomplish the same final result (as the death penalty).

Questions:

  1. Can you think of any other professional who holds the power of life and death?
  2. What do you think is the best preparation for someone who wields that kind of power in our democratic society?
