What’s your current job?

I am the day shift corporal with the Western Kentucky University Police Department. I also am a police training officer (PTO) for the department, as well as an instructor in O.C., Driving, and D.U.I / SFSTs.

How long have you been in the field?

I have been policing for 16 years.

Why did you choose EKU?

EKU is well-known for its Police Studies program, and the online classes are very convenient for me. I actually re-enrolled at EKU and am now completing a degree I started several years ago.

Why are you getting your degree?

My wife, Michelle, is a deputy jailer with the Barren County Detention Center. We have 3 boys: Derrick (17), John (12), and Joseph (6). She is set to retire around the same time I do, and this degree is an investment in our future. After retiring from policing, my goal is to teach at the collegiate level or at a law enforcement academy.
